I still remember about the day when my cousin brother ring me and said that are you willing to travel Kashmir? He had already planned to visit Kashmir and he need my consent. I alongwith my parents had started our journey with them in the month of March,2015.
We are 23 numbers of people in the group alongwith a cook and the Tour Operator residing nearby my cousins house. Our train is from Howrah. Our local tour operator namely Babai had served quality food for dinner to everyone.We all had enjoyed the whole night in the train with gossiping and playing cards.
Near about 5:00 clock in the morning we reached Jammu Railway Station. From the station itself we all had our jackets,mufflers,gloves and cap put on as we are feeling excessive cold over there.Thereafter we had Tea and started our journey by two Traveller Cars and reached Srinagar at around 10:30 at night because the roads are covered by snow due to excessive snowfall.
Our hotel is just 3 minutes walk from the DalLake. In the dinner we had good food and rested for sleep. On that day the temperature is minus 3 degree centrigrade. Next day we wake up in the morning,have tea and tiffin take bath and we all started for DalLake. Beautiful and colourful Shikaras are waiting for us.
I,my cousin and my father got into one Sikara and rest of the people in 6 seperate Sikaras. We have already heard about the Floating Market of Kashmir.
Suddenly we notice a small Shikara is coming our way. The person in that Shikara is trying to sell us Keshars, jewellary items etc. In some portion of that lake Vegetable Production is taking place and the lake is surrounded by exotic houseboats. I alongwith my cousin had spared in living at the houseboat for a day.
The Proprietor of the respective houseboats live alongwith their family throughout the year. Different shops are in houseboats that are dealing with kashmiri shawls,pullovers,jackets,caps, silk sarees. Pashmina Silk is one of the famous Silk Sarees found in Kashmir. I have purchased one for my mother.After 3 hrs we all go at the hotel had lunch and rested for an hour and again started our journey at 3:00 PM. We first visited the Apple Garden and had snapped photos.
Lalchak is the market area of Srinagar. We have purchased peel of dry apples well packed which is very tasty and also apples. In the evening time we return at the hotel. Rested for sometime have dinner and gone for sleep.
Next day we started our journey for Sonmarg. On reaching there the guide suggested us to wear special type of shoes,jackets,caps,gloves and goggles.We have taken this accessories at a rent on hourly basis. Thereafter we started climbing the Hill. I have enjoyed skatting, throw snowballs to each other and by travelling at Sledge Car. Wholeday we have enjoyed and returned hotel in the evening. My brother had purchased a Firni (dress of Kashmiris). Thereafter we have some gossips and had our dinner and gone for sleep.
Nextday,we started our journey to Gulmarg which is 50 KMS from Srinagar by road. On reaching there we hire special dresses need to climb the hill and enjoyed the wholeday by travelling at the ropeway.

Nearer to Gulmarg there is a place called Betab Valley which is an ideal place of honeymoon for coupels. Movie shootouts are done in that area.
Next day we all moved from Srinagar to Pahalgan which is about 90KMS from Srinagar. Either side of the road is covered with snow.
We have seen the sightseen of Pahalgan and on the next day we started our journey for Katra (Vaishnadevi Temple) which is approximately 6hrs journey. Vaishnodevi Temple is located in Katra at the Trikuta mountains within the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir
There is two options to visit Vaishnodevi Temple. One is by walking and the other is to book a helipad. VIP passes are also available nearby bus-stand area.
In the evening time we started of our journey for returning our home. At Jammu Station we have purchased dozens of cricket bat made from willow wood at a very cheap rate. Willow Trees are surrounded in the whole kashmir area.
Next morning we reached Howrah Station and thats how we enjoyed in Kashmir.
Best Time To Travel Kashmir is between March to September.
